Common questions about Sunmach Hastelloy Washers
They are used for load distribution and surface protection in extreme-corrosion environments where standard stainless steel and duplex washers would corrode or fail. Typical applications include high-pressure flange connections in sour-gas wells, hot acid processing lines in chemical plants, and geothermal steam piping where exposure to harsh chemicals is continuous.
While Duplex 2205 is an excellent material for seawater, it risks sulfide stress corrosion cracking in environments with active hydrogen sulfide (sour gas). Hastelloy C-276 features a much higher nickel and molybdenum content, giving it proven immunity to sour-gas cracking, outstanding resistance to hot sulfuric and hydrochloric acids, and a significantly longer subsea operating lifespan.
