Definition -A POSITION LOCKING KEY is a mechanical key used to secure a thrust collar to a shaft so both rotate together and axial (thrust) forces are properly transmitted. Its purpose is to prevent relative movement between the thrust collar and shaft while transferring thrust loads to bearings or support surfaces. POSITION LOCKING KEYs are commonly used in gearboxes, pumps, turbines, and heavy industrial machinery where axial load control is critical.
